- Before Abbey Road fire station, Barrow FB operated from a corner of the covered market in front of the Town Hall, and from two converted shops in Hindpool Road. A temporary fire station in Duke Street was in dire need of replacement by 1910, so the new premises in Abbey Road was built.
Not shown on available maps December 2016. Covered market shown on 1891 1:500 OS map, but unknown which corner of the covered market the fire station was
